Author and Producer Tonya Lewis Lee, wife of famed filmmaker Spike Lee, is the official spokesperson for “A Healthy Baby Begins with You”, a campaign to address and help reduce the high infant mortality rates among African Americans.

At a recent documentary screening held at Jin Lounge, located on historic U Street, supporters came out to educate themselves on the danger of infant mortality and other health issues within the African-American community.

After watching the documentary, minglers stayed around to meet Tonya and watch the much anticipated address from President Obama on health care, a very timely topic. Some of my favorite local blogs, including TheYBF.com and Tracey from BlackGivesBack.com were in attendance.
