Weekend Parties to Check Out!
By DC Fab • July 17th, 2009
I don’t know about you but I’m really glad it’s the weekend. It’s the first time in a long time that it hasn’t rained and I’m ready to enjoy the summer weather. There are plenty of great parties happening this weekend and of course your weekly staples. Here are my top party picks (and they’re all pretty recession friendly):
- MANSION PARTY: We never have these (okay, well we do…but it’s more of a Cali thing) but Now That’s What’s Up along with other promotional teams are hosting a “Life in the Fast Lane” Mansion Party at 9861 Avenel Farm Drive, Potomac, MD 20854. Tickets are $40 and you can purchase them at the door. Some local celebs will be in the building including model Rosa Acosta, football players Vernon Davis, Darnell Dockett, Josh Morgan and more. Try if you dare…
- CALLING ALL JEEZY FANS! The rapper is coming to Love Nightclub (1350 Okie Street NW) to perform his latest. It’s free before 10 p.m. with this flyer.
- It’s the definition of ladies night at Tuscana West (1350 Eye Street NW) on Friday (July 17) night. Ladies, when you and your friends come in a group of three or more, you get in free all night. Plus, if you’re in a group of five, you drink on the promoters!
- CALLING ALL SNEAKER HEADS: Sneaker Pimps, the largest sneaker show is coming to D.C. this Saturday, July 18 at DC Star (2135 Queens Chapel Road). Come look at the latest fashions and listen to performances by Clipse, Wale and J. Cole. Tickets are $15. Get yours now. P.s. There’s a kick off party at Pure (1326 U Street NW) on Friday, July 17 featuring some great local artists like Kingpin Slim, XO, Phil Ade and Ra the MC. $1 drink specials until 9 p.m.
- If you can stand the smoke, Ozio Martini and Cigar Lounge (1813 M Street NW) is hosting a party on Saturday, July 18 with the help of rapper Mims, and football players Vernon Davis, his brother Vontae, Josh Morgan and Jeff Pope. Everyone is free until midnight when you text “HEDC” to 313131.
- A new ultra-lounge, Spot (1214 18th Street NW) is getting a lot of buzz in the city. The guys over at DC City Blog describe the lounge as, “[A lounge] built on the ashes of Andalu in the cluster of clubs on 18th Street, Spot immediately distinguishes itself from its neighbors…the guys working the front door are extremely friendly. Immediate bonus points. Secondly, Carol is quite possibly the coolest bartender in DC (and not hard on the eyes).” Head to Spot on Sunday, July 19. Everyone is free all night when you text “SPOT” to 202-491-3278. DJ KI will be on the tables.
