Cool Event Alert: Murals to Zora at Eatonville
By DC Fab • March 13th, 2009
I so want to go…so basically, the owner of one of my favorite places to chill and eat, Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW) is opening a new restaurant called Eatonville (2121 14th St. NW), dedicated to another Black Renaissance writer, Zora Neale Hurston, responsible for great literary art such as “Their Eyes Were Watching God”. (If you’ve read “Their Eyes…”, the book opens in a Florida city called Eatonville. Hurston is also from that city!)
Anyways, when a friend asked Andy Shallal if he knew of a space to through a fabulous art event, he offered up his new spot, Eatonville, which is still under construction.
The opening of this art exhibit dedicated to Zora Neale Hurston is Saturday, March 14 from 9 p.m. to midnight. They’re asking for $10 suggested donation. Also, check out the exhibit on Sunday, March 15 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

I was highly disappointed with the “soft” opening on Tuesday May 12th. I’m hoping that both the service and the food will be better but I’m not sure I can stomach going back to see. I love Busboy’s and Poets, all locations, so I really hope they can make this restaurant a sucess.
